He finally impressed the vice president of Macy’s and Sadow applied for a US patent in 1970 and in 1972 he got the first successful patent on wheeled suitcases. It took almost 20 years for the next advancement in rolling luggage. Today’s luggage, pulled on two wheels with a retractable handle was invented in the 80s by Northwest Airlines pilot Bob Plath.

According to an article on NationalPost.com, Sir Robert Borden, the prime minister, was the first to broach the idea of a link between Canada and the sunny Turks and Caicos, the 40-island archipelago southeast of the Bahamas.
